<< being taxed at the same rate >>

They are not being taxed at the same rate.

A married person who has earned a taxable income of $42,000 pays $3,892 in federal income tax.

On the other hand, a person who has earned a taxable income of $500,000 pays $144,969 in federal income tax
(which is $141,077 more in tax than the guy who makes $42K).

So does the person who earns about 12 times more money and pays approximately 37 times more in tax get any more government services than the other guy? No. In fact, he gets less. Is that fair, in your mind?
