Obama shows personality traits like intelligence, wit, fast-thinking, calm, reflectiveness, consideration and courtesy. He's rational. He shows good judgment. And he's also a skilled politician.

The current Republican Senator for Oregon, running for re-election. huffingtonpost.com So far in the race, Smith has repeatedly referenced Obama positively in his advertisements, suggesting that he has worked closely with the Democratic nominee in the Senate. Now, by distancing himself from the Ayers robocalls, it appears the vulnerable Republican is banking on a strategy of not offending Obama voters.
And there is also this congressional candidate from Oregon, who I just found while searching... also standing now for the Republicans... and he does have an excellent list of why he admires Obama.

Republican Presidents from Lincoln through Ford were strong advocates for equal rights, balancing labor and business, consumer protection, protecting the environment, a humble but vigorous foreign policy, promoting peace through strength, fiscal integrity, and unafraid of great challenges. A traditional Republican would never condone torture or cruel and inhuman treatment of prisoners regardless of circumstances. Dwight D. Eisenhower probably embodied these traits as well as any Republican President; I see Barack Obama in the same vein, although arguably even more inspirational.
