Are you advocating a flat tax? If not, the steps must occur at some point.

The idea behind the lowering of the steps for higher incomes was that it would stimulate the economy. However, that clearly either did not happen, or did not make enough of a difference to turn the economy around. Instead, what happened was that the gap between middle class (which could easily be defined as adjusted gross of <$250K/yr) and the rich grew over the Bush years.

Although some will cry over billionaires who have lost billions (like the guy who is selling his Ford stake at a huge lose), the fact is that their 'pain' is nothing like the pain for the rest of us. So, their free lunch is over, and now they'll have to sell a few yachts or vacation homes - too bad.

Restoring the tax bracket to pre-Bush is only a piece, but it is an important piece to restoring our economy. It must be couple with job growth, possibly painful cuts (which both candidates won't admit to yet), a strong dollar policy, and repairing the free market crap that has weakened our economy.
