Yes, it takes a long time to get 4km of ice on top of Sweden, but it takes a single snowfall to provide snow cover. In May in Ottawa in the mid 1970s we had a big snowfall and that provided a LOT of reflection for a day or two.

We could say likewise that it takes years for depressions to form, but while it's true that it takes years from the boom peak to the subsequent trough, the onset of depression is when the peak is over and the trend is down [which is a matter of days not years].

Glaciations don't happen at glacial speed. They happen quickly as dew points and snow points are reached and the stars are in alignment so to speak. They are in alignment. Note for example the size of the Sahara. The Egyptians didn't build the pyramids in the midst of desert sand. It was balmy in Egypt back in the day.
