The person who makes $500k a year is taking more from the resources of our society.

He has approximately $1000 a day after tax income. If you take it as a slice of the pie he is taking a much larger slice of the pie than a person who is making $40k a year. To try to pretend that they are equal is ludicrous. One is benefiting far more from the system as it is than the other.

So how can you pretend that it is not fair that he pays a larger part of his income in taxes? it is a free country. If he doesn't like the high taxes he can lower them to the level of the person making $40k a year by lowering his income to that level.
