We'll see how well your hypothesis turns out.

I can make a better argument for Kraft foods being a deflation hedge than I can for a gold mining firm.

Both have would experience declining:

wages;
raw materials;
sales price.

Only Kraft produces products many people need.
Gold miners merely produce a product many people want.
