I take people at their word from Norquist's desire to make government so small he can drown it in his bathtub to Bush's pronouncement that his BASE is the 'have and have mores.' I believe them when they say such things especially as what they have actually done matches pretty well with what they have said. Norquist may be unhappy about the size of the Bush military but that military in Iraq especially is about 1/2 private. I believe McCain when he says he wants to cut capital gains in half further rewarding capital at the expense of labor. We can see the same thing in Republican refusal to aid individual homeowners but bending over backwards to help banks and insurance companies mired in the same mess. The national debt has increased under Bush by 84%. During the same time the wealthiest 400 Americans have seen their wealth increased by $1.6 Trillion. Bush is a huge success for the Republican plutocrats. They are thrilled with him even in the face of the financial meltdown...they will swoop in for the bargains.
