He was the editor of the Law Review. You can go look up what that job involves if you like.

Because he never pursued a serious legal academic career and his law practice was aimed at community work, no I am not surprised he didn't publish any lengthy pieces on constitutional issues.

But the guy has written and spoken so much since then that anyone who claims he is a "mystery" is simply shutting out the ample public record. At least I can respect someone who says they read the books and listened to the speeches and debates and still disagrees strongly with him. Fine, that's politics.

But this mythical theme that Obama is an unknown alien, that's the one that has become a futile dead end for the McCain campaign. Pursuing it has just driven up McCain's unfavorable ratings.

That should tell you something about the popular verdict on Obama.
