He was editor. You must know what editors do. I was on the ELQ (Environmental Law Quarterly) at Berkeley- that's a tiny insignificant publication compared to the Harvard Law Review. Our editor was so busy coordinating the fact checking on all the student writing and submissions (from outside sources- non-students), she didn't have time to write. Obviously people who haven't been involved in publications wouldn't know about the massive amount of time involved in the submissions and publishing process- but surely people at least know about how editors check and shape other people's articles; I didn't find it odd at all.

Let me tell you, my small job, as fact checker, took me hours every week. I never wanted any of the more "serious" jobs, because I would have had to spend all my time at the law school, and I had a husband, and aging (and in my father's case, dying) parents.
