Ark. city lands wind turbine plant, 700 new jobs Associated Press 10.24.08, 1:07 PM ET JONESBORO, Ark. - A $100 million wind turbine plant will create 700 new jobs in Jonesboro, officials announced Friday. Nordex USA Inc. says it will build a plant on 187 acres in the Craighead Technology Park. The jobs are expected to pay an average of $17 an hour. "Today we celebrate another important step for our state into the renewable-energy industry with Nordex's decision to make a significant investment in Arkansas," Gov. Mike Beebe said in a statement. "While we have seen a lot of high-quality jobs coming to Jonesboro in the past few years, Nordex opens up all kinds of future opportunities for northeast Arkansas." The Nordex plant in Jonesboro will make every component of a wind turbine except the tower.
