I started buying canadian oil sand stocks on Friday - particularly SU. Given the market apocalypse I really had to grit my teeth to click the "Buy" button. But jeez, these stocks are now at ridiculously low valuations. And unlike most stocks, I figure I'm buying resources-in-the-ground, which puts some kind of floor into the price.

Call me crazy, but somehow I think the price of oil is going to go up in the next 10 years. And it may go *way* up. Peak oil aside, the Middle East is a nuclear powder-keg waiting for a match. When that happens there will be a stampede to geopolitically safe energy suppliers.

Another interesting play, for the same reasons, is PBR.
