The breakeven point for oil sands vary by project, but on average it's in the $70-$80 range. Of course that's higher than the current price, however this is short-term mitigated by the fact deliveries are mostly to contracts much higher than this. And long-term by the presumption that oil prices will bottom next year and begin to move up sharply.

Meanwhile SU, to cite one example, is profitable, with large stable assets, and a P/E of around $3. No doubt earnings are going to get whacked for another year, but methinks that's already factored into the price.
