So we can argue who'll be better, but we're going to get to see Obama in action first hand and can judge him by his performance.
Obama is certainly an intelligent man. In fact, I admire him for what he has achieved in his personal life despite the obstables.
But when I permit myself to dwell upon it, I just have these gut feelings that he's not his own man, no matter how intelligent he is. He's TOO popular amongst democrats. Even more popular than I recall Bill Clinton was.. I've never seen so many people blatantly wearing Obama t-shirts publicly displaying their political choice. That might be because I live in a very liberal suburb of DC, but it's still disturbing to see this cult of personality being built around the man. Farrakhan calling him the messiah.. young boys marching like brownshirt, pledging their allegiance to Obama (and not the US).. etc.
I feel pretty confident that McCain it not particularly owned by the Far Right.. In fact, they are holding their noses in supporting him because they fear Obama, and especially those who are supporting him. I also think that McCain will be willing to listen to common sensical legislators from both sides because he is, at his heart, someone who has no love for the big bankers, nor is he unsympathetic to the plight of working people.
All I can hope is that enough people who think like I do, turn out and vote Republican. In this economic enviroment, we need some strong leadership and someone who can garner conciliation from both sides.
