I think most everybody is missing the point -- the US has not seen deflation in my lifetime or yours and it is most unlikely you or I will ever see it. What people are calling 'deflation' today is simply what we have seen many, many times before -- recession and bear markets for stocks and bonds. We are most certainly in a recession and a bear market. Neither of these is anything close to be a sufficient condition for deflation. And it is not just a matter of whether or not we have a fiat currency or money expansion at this moment.
