the republicans in office. they went to congress, not the other way around. also, the republicans promised wealth trickle down so they MASSIVELY reduced taxes on the wealthy, but the biggest part of the trickle came in the form of idiots spending their tax reductions on bad mortgages.

in this case, ABSOLUTELY! if the idiots hadn't gone out and spent all their cash on worthless assets, we wouldn't be looking at a realistic GREAT DEPRESSION, PART TWO.

of course, a great depression will hurt the poor and middle class the most.
