Oh gosh, it was many years ago, K (the boys were still young)and the professor who influenced me in particular was Hispanic and very very much into special courses for the handicapped and for minorities. It was a night class, and was made up of educators working on advanced degrees toward advancement in administration. The course was heavily minority and that weighted the discussions toward special needs.

It makes me uncomfortable to say this, but the quality of that class was way below what I expected. We focused mainly on the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) of the 70s, and when I brought up special needs of the gifted, you would have thought I'd made a rude noise.
I don't remember anything in particular, except that I came away just knowing it wasn't the right place for me.
