you are right about THIS quarter... and NO, they did NOT say anything about 1998 (to the PW analyst...) the "guidance" was really on the state of their business and THIS quarter... although I would doubt that guidance would be UPBEAT if they also felt that the next quarter was going to be weak... they would be better off being silent... so I would think that it would be OK or STRONG based on continued need to upgrade fab capability to lead production... NO analyst is right all the time... no firm is... but I DO believe that this guidance is for a reason... their credibility would be shot for an awfully long time if they gave bad direction... and analysts can do alot of good in guiding investment money if the company is fair in providing good info and guidance, and consistently so... it is lifeblood in this industry and market...
