I was amazed that they got Jerre Stead to run the company. This guy has had amazing success leading a bunch of companies (Honeywell, Square-D, AT&T GBCS (the PBX group), to name a few. The press did a hatchet job on him about AT&T GIS/NCR -- but while he was there they were profitable, they fell apart after he left. And after getting the huge win for Legent shareholders in the CA acquisition, I would have thought he wouldn't have run another big company.

I worked in organizations Stead ran in both NCR and Legent. He's a highly controversial guy -- but that's what I expected from someone that could come in and have a big impact. The one thing I've seen from him almost continously is an ability to focus on the bottom line -- and beat whatever numbers are in front of him.

I wasn't interested in Ingram's IPO until the announcement this week -- I sure am interested now.
