I've been a long time reader of this thread and a very occasional poster. I realize that the focus of this thread has evolved from real estate to the overall economy, but I thought I would add a data point in regards to the real estate discussion.

I'm not claiming that the bottom of the real estate market is in, but after being a long time renter I finally capitulated and bought my primary residence. My personal opinion is that real estate prices will stagnate for years, but prices will likely not go much lower due to the eventual inflationary pressures from the massive governmental money pump. I live in the Tampa Bay area so depending on your location it could be a much different story.

P.S. I paid cash for a Bank Owned home in a well established neighborhood, so it was well below the typical retail asking price.
