They told us the amount, then they started deducting. Depreciated the roof, the flooring, took off our deductable, took off what they already paid us. It's about 20,000.00 less. What I don't understand is this. We have a replacement cost policy. The adjuster said this is what happens, they figure out what the average price for carpet is, go with the middle and if you replace that carpet with the exact same thing, they will repay us the difference. What the hell kinda sense is that? We told them exactly what kind of carpet it was. Told them we're replacing the carpet upstairs with the exact same stuff and they gave is 1500.00 less and expect us to pay for it and they will reimburse us? Bullshit!
I asked about the mold we found. The adjustor said, I figured in 15% more sheetrock just in case. I said I can see that but where is the additional labour required to remove the moldy stuff, spray down the studs, clean up the mess and the labour to hang, float, tape and paint? He said, well, the contractor usually puts in more time than is necessary on the bid in case something like this comes up. I asked the contractor, he said he did pad the time some but not much. He said we have very little wiggle room in the labour. |
