I have shared how my Grandfather lost his ranch he homesteaded in Colorado. He homesteaded in 1890 at the age of 12 on approx. 1200 acres.

In 1932 the government shot all his cattle and buried them in a trench dug on his ranch. The carcasses were covered with lime and buried. Two weeks later his house burned down and the family moved to the county seat into a boarding house.

The government did this to stabilize beef prices. Not one steak was ALLOWED to be kept by my grandfather.

This is MY history.

Are WE doomed to repeat it?

You can imagine how I feel about government.

This was not a MYTH. It was reality. So was the desperation of my grandfather, his wife and children.

He was feeding his cattle quite well. And his family. And his neighbors.

Not afterwards.

His was not an exercise in economics at a university.
