SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Software Publishing Corporations
Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq: SPCO), today announced the release of Serif MailPlus,
the latest addition to the "Serif" line of products: PagePlus 5(TM) and
DrawPlus 3(TM). MailPlus is designed for families and SOHO (small office/home
office) users who want to send fun and creative e-mails to friends, family,
and colleagues. This product delivers messages quickly and efficiently and
adds graphical appeal. With Software Publishing Corporation's patent-pending
Intelligent Formatting(TM) technology, MailPlus coordinates the white space,
color balance, sizing, text wrapping and the behind-the-scenes work of
creating professional looking graphical e-mail messages that communicate
effectively.
"E-mail is an incredible productivity tool, but until now has been limited
to plain old text on the screen. The impact of well designed graphics in
e-mail is considerable. Serif MailPlus makes it a snap for anyone to
transform a plain old text message into an attractive graphical message that
really gets noticed. MailPlus really helps cut through traditional e-mail
clutter," said Barry Cinnamon, President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman
of the Board.
The graphic content in MailPlus is ideal for small business and family
users. Examples of available content include greeting cards, invitations,
stationary, and certificates. MailPlus also supports the insertion of digital
pictures to create custom messages that can be used for various purposes such
as greetings or invitations for the holidays.
MailPlus has been designed to work with popular e-mail products such as
Eudora, Netscape, America Online, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Outlook and
others. The recipient of these messages can view the visual messages online
or as an attachment, depending on his or her e-mail program. The optimally
compressed GIF file in MailPlus messages makes for minimal file size, which
results in shorter transmission time.
"Because Serif MailPlus messages are sent as a GIF attachment, there is no
requirement for a proprietary viewer to open the message," said Maurice Hamoy,
Vice President of Marketing. "MailPlus makes sending birthday invitations or
thank you notes quicker and more efficient than ever, and the tools are always
at your fingertips. There is no need to spend precious time driving to the
card store, browsing through hundreds of cards to find the almost perfect
message. Just select a layout from one of the many professionally designed
graphics in MailPlus, type your message, and click Send. And your message
really pops out when received."
Additional Content
Serif Mail Plus uses a message pack architecture that allows users to add
new graphical content to the base product. Additional layouts, templates and
message formats are expected to be available for a variety of specific
communication needs. At ship time, the MailPlus Business pack will be
available directly from Software Publishing Corporation for $19.95.
Additional content packs are expected to be available from SPC in the future.
System Requirements
Microsoft Windows 95 or Window NT 4.0 operating system; a 486/50 with
8 megabytes of memory to run Serif MailPlus on Window 95, or with 12 megabytes
of memory to run Serif MailPlus on Windows T 4.0; VGA (640 x 486 resolution)
