The Senate would have to expel him first....

(And, no doubt your suggestion was in jest... as I'm sure you'll agree that if Palin were to appoint HERSELF to the Senate seat it would only *diminish* her political capital... likely turn her into a national laughingstock and probably put an end to her Presidential ambitions for 2012 or 2016. My assumption is that she's too smart to do that.)
