Bookdon - I've been away, so excuse the delay in answering. >>>If optical (UV) techniques really do run out of tricks (and most people now believe that that won't happen until features get below 0.13 microns, in about five years), then x-ray may actually be used.<<<<

According to my sources (which - sorry, I can't reveal) it won't be five years before x-ray is used. One-two years is more like it. XRL has been around a long time. I have material which shows a chronology of the development of XRL. The first x-ray stepper was installed on a snychrotron in 1984. X-ray lithography is ready now, and my sources say that a move is afoot to make it widely available in the US in the near future (1998). AND NO -- I'M NOT REFERRING TO THE COMPANY YOU HATE TO SEE MENTIONED ON THIS THREAD.
