She's a registered Democrat. If she's part of the new legislature in 2009, she'll keep her committee seats and her chairmanship as a Democrat, unless removed by the legislative leadership. As far as the article goes, it is unambiguous that she was and is the sitting Democrat senator from Boston -- and will continue to be that for several more months. It was an oversight on the part of the reporter not to identify her party.
