Tampa home prices down, but not as wildly as out West Here's a little kicker to my recent home purchase. The County Appraiser does not consider purchases of Bank Owned properties to be reflective of the actual market. Some mumbo jumbo about using only "At Arm's Length" transactions? As a result, my appraised value for property tax purposes is 39% higher than my purchase price. I plan to contest the appraised value but would probably have better luck if I just bought a lottery ticket?!
