People may be aware that there was a hyperinflation during 1923-24 in the same sense that people in the US are aware that there was a depression in the 1930s, but in both cases there is little if any emotional attachment in the vast majority of the population. Unless things become critical or the government comes clean about doctoring inflation numbers, nobody will care.

The Obama "event" in Berlin was a spectacle or media circus and should not be confused with "serious demonstration".
