The other Bush (Petraeus) option has been to buy them off in Iraq. There's something about that that just doesn't feel right; you'd think a commander would have some qualms about hiring or buying off folks who had killed your men. Since every vocational interest test I've taken has shown that I'm 180 degrees from a military officer in interests, I freely admit that I'm a a bad judge. Maybe pragmatism is how the military mind works. During Vietnam we used to say that "war is good business, invest your son." SG
