Republicans won by the slimmest of majorities in almost all races at the start of this decade and then they immediately began to drive extreme legislation through like those tax cuts for gas guzzling SUVs and drilling all over the country and a complete neutering of the EPA, AS IF they had a national mandate to do so which they did not. Obama winning with 350+ electoral votes and the dems blasting through congress picking up 8+ senate seats, now THERES a mandate. Obama can do what he wants. But Bush pushed his bizarre agenda on over half the population that had a distaste for it, and you never heard much "concern" from republicans at that time regarding unity
