I agree with you in principle. However, I think it's a bit hypocritical to start complaining about a progressive tax structure when that is what we've had my entire life. It's worked pretty well for the last 5 decades as far as I know. It's only just recently gone so far in terms of cutting taxes for the wealthy that it threw us into deficits. That, more than anything else, is my objection to the Bush tax cuts. Roll back those tax cuts and we'd be damn close to a balanced budget right now.
