The agenda is, it seems to me very dangerous when increasing powers get aggregated by the President, especially powers like the ability to deploy troops as he sees fit on US soil (under the unspecified 'conditions').
Couple these powers with the ability to effectively suspend habeas corpus and imprison people without charge or redress, as granted in the post I replied to.

Most posters here seemed unperturbed by these powers while Bush led: I am wondering if they might at least show concern now that someone they denounce as a radical Marxist socialist looks like being elected.
<edit> Those who claim to be libertarian ought to have been worried already, but again perhaps this will serve as a reminder.

Because the President now has the legal and actual power to redact anyone in the US by military force without them ever knowing why.
Couple that with the ability to require call and IP logs and with the TIA follow-ons and he can also identify anyone who's ever expressed doubt or mistrust of him, or any intention to act against any of his rulings, by phone or online.

If Obama really were such an extreme leftist, he'd have all the tools needed signed into law. So would any other leader with dictatorial wishes in the future, left or right-wing.

That's the agenda that bothers me. I'm wondering now if situational ethics will trigger concern in anyone else.
