Comtech Telecommunications Corp. Receives $2.9 Million Power Order for Power Amplifiers to Support the Ground Multi-Band Terminal Program (GMT)

MELVILLE, N.Y., Oct. 31, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (NasdaqGS:CMTL) announced today that its Santa Clara, California-based subsidiary, Comtech Xicom Technology, Inc. received a $ 2.9 million order from a U.S. prime contractor for power amplifiers for a follow-on procurement for the Ground Multi-Band Terminal (GMT) program. The order consists of both Tri-band and Ka-band High Powered Amplifiers (HPA's ) that will be delivered over the next three quarters.

This order is the fourth in a series of ongoing HPA procurements for the Air Force GMT program that began in 2005 and which is expected to continue through 2011. Comtech, through its Tempe, Arizona-based subsidiary, EF Data Corp., also provides satellite modems for GMT.

``As a world leader in both Tri-band and high power Ka-band amplifiers, we are pleased to participate in this important program,'' said Fred Kornberg, Comtech's CEO. ``The demand for these amplifiers will continue, driven by the continuing deployment of Wideband Global Satcom (WGS) Satellite systems. Our tri-band amplifiers offer users the flexibility of accessing both military and commercial satellites.''

Xicom Technology, Inc., a world leader in high power amplifiers, manufactures a wide variety of tube-based and solid-state amplifiers for military and commercial satellite uplink applications. The product range encompasses power levels from 8W to 3 KW, with frequency coverage in sub-bands within the 2 GHz to 45.5 GHz spectrum. Amplifiers are available for fixed and ground-based, ship-board, and airborne mobile applications.
