LOL; if the gvt didn't take it, it would go right in their pockets, not to mine. They would effectively be giving you a paycut. If they could simply and unproblematically cut your pay they would have already done so. If they have done so, well they would do it again if cutting pay whenever they wanted wasn't a problem. They have to pay enough to attract people to work for them.
