No skin in the game isn't a very meaningful point.

If you rob a bank and shoot a teller in California, it is very unlikely to have a direct, or important indirect impact on me, but that doesn't mean I don't have grounds to say that it was a horrible and unjust action.

If anything "having a skin in the game" would tend to make you more biased, thinking about your "skin" preferentially over everyone else's.
