But I don't get very far with that argument when bureaucrats ask to see mine. If a bureaucrat responsible for assuring your citizenship, such as the one issuing passports, demands your birth certificate, you give it to him. If a bureaucrat not authorized to demand your birth certificate, maybe someone from the EPA, does so, you call your congressman to get the guy disciplined. If some Joe on the street demands your birth certificate, you roll your eyes and move on.
