John McCain is not without risk. His performance during the current economic crisis was erratic at best, and, while you may not think so, his selection of Palin as VP was a major blunder. The people don't believe the US government has been "working at the behest of the American people". That's exactly why Obama may very well be president-elect tomorrow evening.
