I suspect that an Obama administration may well increase capital gains taxes to 20%, but there is no way no how that they will eliminate 401k etc programs. Maybe (emphasize that word) they will create something new for people put tax deferred money with some sort of guaranteed rate from the govt, but it would be strictly optional. Sort of like an annuity from the govt. But that would be the extent of it--strictly voluntary for those who want something guaranteed with lower fees and the "ultimate" safety (not taking into account inflation, lol).
