I'm not sure what your question is.... If I recall correctly, a few contract employees poked into Obama's, McCain's and Clinton's supposedly secure passport files early this year. None of the candidates were happy about it and both McCain and Obama demanded investigations. I recall that Obama wanted Congress to oversee the investigation, not Bush political appointees. Was that "vociferous"? I know my passport application required a lot of background information - far more than a credit card application - and it would be easy for someone so inclined to do a great deal of mischief with that info - for a high profile person it could be a personal security risk. I think we all agree that the data should be secure and accessed by only those with a "need to know". Some rightwing groups speculate that Obama's passport files contain evidence of trips to places he'd rather we didn't know about. I doubt that. Unauthorized travel by US citizens to certain countries like Cuba, and presumably North Korea and others is a crime. Had Obama violated US law in his travels common sense suggests it would have surfaced years ago.
