Just pointing out that a lot of people would rather have less and have it be guaranteed

Like I said, those folks can do that with the existing 401K program. They can buy treasuries or, even better, zero coupons which do away with the problem of reinvesting the interest payments and tell you exactly how much you will have at the end of the time period.

One thing this market crash might do is make people get more involved with their 401Ks and less complacent.
