Since I respect what he did with his life a lot more than you do, I have very little fear of an Obama presidency. You don't vote "present" to get in to Harvard, and you don't vote "presennt" to be the first black head of the law review. You don't vote present as a community organizer (something I respect), and the nicest people I ever met were community organizers and Peace Corps workers. And you know what? They were also the most likely to care about others in law school. And the most likely to be supportive of other students. And, interestingly, they did really well in school, too. The biggest dicks I ever met were pilots. No curiosity and lots of ego. Go figure. So I'm pleased as punch to have a president who is intelligent, articulate, and appears to be the kind of guy I would actually trust to run the country.

It's not surprising not everyone is happy. Some people were actually pleased with Bush- even now, after the ginormous mess we're in. So there's clearly someone for everyone. But Mr. Obama makes me feel much more secure about the future for me and my family. I really could not be happier that it looks like he's winning. But there's never a way to please everyone.

Unity is nice, but it's not going to make you less afraid of Obama, and I'm certainly not going to like him less because you are afraid. So we can all pay lip service to unity, but very few people on SI are going to DO anything about it. I mean really- what do YOU plan to do in the service of unity and bipartisanship?
