Your memory is right - Pheonix went public 8 years ago. I was working as a BIOS engineer at NEC Technologies at the time, and we were a Pheonix customer.

I think it would probably be a mistake for you to sell Pheonix now. You may have some losses to offset your PTEC gain, but most of them are probably in fine companies that haven't recovered from the July panic.

I think the future of Pheonix brighter today than it has been at any time in the history of the company. In the old days, they had to mimic IBM. To make matters worse, IBM hated them with a passion. Today, Intel leads the industry and they're very happy to let other companies develop system software. Intel owns shares in PTEC and SYSF and it's in their interest to help them prosper. Intel has given Pheonix a commitment of business sufficient to almost guarantee that Pheonix will grow at least 30% annually for the next 3 years.

Unlike SYSF, PTEC has a P/E that is in line with their future growth. I think it'll trade in the 14-20 range for the remainder of the year. Next year, it should rise some more, but I don't think it'll double. Other stocks that haven't recovered from the July panic probably will double.
