The GOP needs to somehow find a way to reduce the influence of the evangelicals for one hugely important reason: The GOP pols simply do not live up to the principles the evangelicals embody. Thus, the GOP is seen as a party of hypocrites.


This is falling for liberal definition of "hypocrite". Evangelicals always are "hypocrites" because they are human like everybody else and are not angels. But liberals can NEVER be "hypocrites" because they have no scruples.

It's a mug's game. The GOP shouldn't play it.

I think Mitt Romney was rejected for not connecting with voters, plain and simple.
