Great campaign strategy by Obama and his Campaign Manager Plouffe and top Strategist Axelrod. They understood the ground reality early, focused early on organizing in the caucus states thus neutralizing Mark Penn's microtargeting fantasy...Obama eventually defeated Hillary but the long primary produced enormous benefits for Obama and the democratic party. If Obama wins states like Indiana and North Carolina, it will partially be due to the contested primaries.

After the eclipse of Edwards, Obama's campaign very effectively turned a large part of the progressive blogosphere in favor of Obama. All part of a great strategic campaign.

Similarly, team Obama ran a rope around Steve Schmidt's strategy by moving the fight right into the Republican heartland and throttled it after the conventions were over...Schmidt is a young Karl Rove protege that McCain brought in to try and save his campaign. Yet, you can tell Rove did not run McCain's campaign as the message discipline was just not there.

Within 12 hours we'll see the final results of Obama's campaign - I hope he is able to generate a very solid victory with a clear mandate for change.
