Election observer booted from polling place
By Tom Held of the Journal Sentinel

Posted: Nov. 4, 2008 4:38 p.m.

An election observer who identified herself as representing the Democratic National Committee was booted from the Maryland Avenue Montessori School after she repeatedly interfered with voters and poll workers, according to the location's chief inspector, Brother Balentine.

The woman, registered under the name Sarah Molenkamp, first refused to remain in the area designated for poll monitors, Balentine said.

He said he later found her talking with voters and giving them directions on three separate occasions; he directed her to leave shortly before 9 a.m.

Balentine said some of her activities could be viewed as electioneering.

The chief inspector said he had been working at the same polling place for six presidential elections and "never had to do that before."

Another Democratic National Committee poll observer said he was not allowed to discuss the incident with reporters
