LOL. I'm not mincing words. From 2004 to now, I was not proud of my country under Bush. He made us a laughingstock, destroyed our credibility around the world, and destroyed our economy. Then when it looked like so many Americans supported McCain, I began to wonder exactly how corrupt the American soul had become. But with this resounding victory, I realize that McCain's popularity was not as high as they made it out to be. As such, I am again proud to be an American, because I believe the majority in this country feel the way I do.

Being patriotic is having the courage to tell it like it is when your country's leaders do bad things. Are you proud of your son when he commits a despicable act? I can say I wouldn't be. Same with our country. You don't have to be proud of your country every single day to remain a patriot every second of every day. The true patriots are unrelenting critics as well as steadfast loyalists.
