MM,

<<Well, if Obama gives a flip about the country, he will adopt a more mature attitude <edit> than that shown by some of his followers </edit>.

Good luck.>>

If you take a look at what is being said on the right side of the aisle, I think the mood here has been rather tempered and sedate. The man hasn't even been president elect for a full day and there are websites on si calling for his impeachment and saying he is unfit for command. While there is some gloating going on(which isn't as unreasonable as the silliness that had continued to brought up with Obama's birth certificate after it really should have been put to rest), you didn't hear anything like that from Obama's camp and Obama's speech was more about getting to work and about inclusion, not exclusion.

I agree that there needs to be bipartisanship. But that also means that people from your side of the aisle need to make some compromises as well in order to come together. Obama has shown a willingness to compromise(at least from some of his change in positions during the election ie as with drilling off the coasts) but don't expect anything if you don't give anything in return.

I also agree that McCain gave a great speech last night. I can't help but think if he ran his campaign with more of a conciliatory approach towards others like he espoused last night instead of the stridency of his campaign, there might have been a different result.

Overall, I think it would be great if we could all agree to meet somewhere around the center and get things done for the country. I don't think we can survive 4 more years of gridlock and expect that our kids and grandkids will have anywhere near the standard of living we enjoy right now.

Good luck.

Neal
