It was clear that Bush and Cheney took the 2006 midterm losses to mean they had nothing else to lose, so it was time to use all the executive power they had accumulated to do what they wanted while they could.

Put me on the record as saying I will be shocked and amazed if we hear stories like that about Obama. Despite the caricatures painted on other threads, Obama is not fiercely ideological about his liberalism, and he didn't run just to get the Democrats back on top at the expense of Republicans.

Now he will get the chance to show what he can do as a uniter. If he blows it, I'll be first in line to point that out as we move ahead.
