If they are smart, the Reps will look long and hard at why they lost FL, OH and VA by clear margins this time. It wasn't for lack of throwing red meat to the base there.

Secretary of State issues election results
Republican presidential candidate John McCain won Missouri in Tuesday’s election, but by a razor-thin margin, final election results issued by the Missouri Secretary of State indicated.
With all 3,509 precincts in Missouri reporting, McCain received 1,442,613 votes, compared to 1,436,745 votes for Democrat Barack Obama.
That converts to 49.4 percent of the turnout for McCain, compared to 49.2 percent for Obama.
In the race for governor, Democrat Jay Nixon received 1,675,270 votes to 1,133,779 votes for Republican Kenny Hulshof. Nixon’s margin of victory was 58.4 percent.
The race for lieutenant governor ended with incumbent Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder retaining his post with 1,400,625 votes, or 49.9 percent of the turnout compared to Democrat Sam Page, who received 1,326,591 votes.
The race for attorney general ended with Democrat Christ Koster garnering 1,466,738 votes, or 52.8 percent of the turnout compared to 1,309,727 votes for Republican Mike Gibbons.
Secretary of State Robin Carnahan retained her post with 1,743,819 votes, or 61.8 percent of the turnout, with Republican Mitch Hubbard receiving 1,003,692 votes. |
