No it wasn't just an "emotional" reaction. Wasn't intended to be, anyway. Rove sought a 50.1% victory, and used wedge issues and demonizing tactics to achieve it. Obama didn't do either one of those things. You can say that Obama was "vague" in his public pronouncements, fair enough. But his web site was pretty comprehensive if anyone actually cared about the issues enough to check it out. Obama used inspiration, an intelligent campaign strategy, and a great ground game to win both the primary and the general election. Obama tried to bring out the best in people, Rove/Bush used pocketbook ("It's your money" and tax cuts) and wedge issues aimed at his base and widespread prejudices.

I don't have the energy to review this thing right now. It seems to me so obvious that Obama's strategy was not Rove's that I find it hard to understand why you think it was.
