yes but even in the 90s republicans were out of control with the impeachment and other bizarre behavior so this disastrous Bush admin was needed to destroy them. We need a 2 party system in the US and right now we have a one party system and a bunch of lunatics on the right with about as much sense/perspective as a fringe party like Peace and Freedom. Had Gore won it STILL would have been difficult to get alternative energy through because Inhofe and Stevens would have still been there. Now, with this wipeout, they are factionalized. Obviously after this massive debt implosion and war, I am sorry Bush was president because our country is in a deep deep hole. But there was one shining light that came out of this- republicans are DEAD unless they retool to the center- NOW
